Welcome to our meet the team of Three Panels Press (3PP) series, where you will learn more about why everyone joined 3PP and why we feel the work we are doing is important. First up, meet designer, Morgana.

Q: Why did you join Three Panels Press?

A: I joined 3PP for another opportunity to showcase my skills and gain more experience handling various projects. Ambitious (greedy), I know, but the work is fulfilling; in this current environment, where corporations suck the joy out of people, I'm grateful that I found something that clicks for me at the moment.

Q: What’s your favorite art period and why?

A: I gravitate towards heavy gothic aesthetics rather than a particular art period. Though, I suppose, Baroque will be my default answer for its deep, rich tones.

Q: Why is art history important today?

A: Art history is a neat way of understanding the reason behind many of history's most prominent art and its process of creation. More specifically, it helps us understand how we can influence each other, which shows up in the things we make.

Q: What are you doing when you’re not working on things for 3PP?

A: When I'm not working on things for 3PP, I have other obligations with other lit mags, my internships, and my personal projects. Scrapbooking, creating dreamcatcher-esque tattoo illustrations, curating playlists, making graphic edits, things like that! Oh, and making poems/short stories for submissions too!

Q: This or that? Explain why?

       Picasso or Van Gogh

       Monet or Manet

       Dadaism or Futurism

       Rococo or Surrealism

A: Van Gogh because Picasso was a very bad man. Also, I vibe with Van Gogh's aesthetics harder. Monet because I like landscape art a lot more. Dadaism because the aesthetics I feel would fit right in with analog horror, which I am currently obsessed with. Rococo because I vibe with that very hard. I hate minimalism so much. It's so bland and boring. Bring back extravagant flamboyance! Bring back this style for the love of all things good in this world!

Q: What is something we don’t know about you?

A: Fun fact about me: All the numbers in my birthday add up to 9. That includes subtracting, too.

Q: What’s a fun/random art history fact you love?

A: Bestest K-pop group Dreamcatcher debuted in 2017 and have delivered some of the most beautiful album covers to date. On a more serious note, the Mona Lisa was stolen at some point because of a misguided sense of zealous nationalism. That's the only relevant art history fact I know.

Q: If you could have lunch with one artist, living or dead, who would it be? Why? What’s one thing you’d ask?

A: Dreamcatcher please. I would do a lot of stuff to meet them in person. I'd love to design an album cover for them, so I’d probably ask if I could do that.

Thanks for indulging us, Morgana! It is great to learn more about you, your background, and thoughts about art and its history.

Stay tuned to learn about more members of the team.
