We are back with more fun facts about the team. Here are Jhazzy Jhane’s answers to the some questions we’re interested in having answered.

Q: What made you start 3PP?

A: I fell in love with art history the summer after I studied abroad. I saw art all over Europe. I had an amazing professor. I didn’t understand art before that summer. After that summer, I understood it better and wanted nothing more than to be in museums all the time! I want to give other people that same sense of understanding and joy. I’ve been wanting to have my own magazine for a while, but I did not know what the theme should be. As I thought about it and did more research, I realized that I can combine my love of art history with my love of writing. I want to educate people in a fun and cool way. I want to give creators a home for their beautiful art and to stretch them in what they create. I also want to entertain and provide a space to talk about art, its history and future, and why it's important!

Q: What’s your favorite art period? Why?

A: I love Baroque because of the high drama, chiaroscuro technique, Caravaggio (of course), and the rawness of Baroque work. I feel deeply connected to it.

Q: Why is art history important today?

A: It’s important because history influences the future. We can learn a lot from the past, while still inventing new things or reinventing the old. Sometimes things come back in style, too. So, all of that is interesting, for learning and creating. I also just think it’s fascinating information to know what influenced people, how styles changed and why, etc. Art museums are also beautiful in their preservation of art and providing people enjoyment. It’s a creative outlet and way for people to express themselves and share a piece of them and their experiences with someone else.

Q: What are you doing when you’re not working on things for 3PP?

A: I am working, taking classes, planning trips, spending times with loved ones, watching a show, listening to music, scrolling (which I really should stop), you name it!

Q: This or that? Explain why?

       Picasso or Van Gogh

       Monet or Manet

       Dadaism or Futurism

       Rococo or Surrealism

Picasso or Van Gogh - super tough. I like Picasso’s earlier work (blue and rose period) and want to see Guernica. I also find cubism interesting and innovative. Van Gogh’s pieces are vibrant and pleasant. They almost jump off the page. His flowers are stunning. I may go with Picasso because I’m fascinated by him and his work.

Monet or Manet - oooof another tough one. I can’t pick! Don’t make me. I like Manet’s Olympia. Monet, like Van Gogh, has such beautiful work. I can’t decide on this one.

Dadaism or Futurism - futurism. I am not a huge fan of dada, even though I do think we could learn from it.

Rococo or Surrealism - tough. I love both! Probably surrealism. I love strange and unusual things. But I love the whimsy and colors of rococo.

Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you.

A: I am such an open book, so I have no idea what people really don’t know. I have a baby sister who’s 8. I love taking her to museums when we travel. I always ask her what her favorites are and why. She’s always down to go to the museum and answer my questions, which I love.

Q: What’s a fun random art history fact you love?

A: That Picasso’s first work was allegedly “piz,” short for for lapiz, which means pencil. How cute!

Q: If you could have lunch with one artist, living or dead, who would it be? Why? What’s one thing you’d ask?

A: Caravaggio! Hands down. I just love his work so much. And I’d ask about his life and why he got into so much trouble and how that influenced his work.

Thank you, Jhazzy! We enjoyed learning more about you. What an interesting person.

We asked the other members of our team to answer these same questions, so stay tuned for more cool answers.
